Why Hardie Board Needs Special Soft Wash Care
Hardie board (fiber cement) siding is increasingly common on newer Tampa Bay construction — durable against Florida weather, but the caulked seams between boards and around trim are a real weak point under high pressure. Manufacturer care guidance for fiber cement siding specifically recommends low-pressure cleaning; high-PSI water can force its way past caulking and behind the boards.
Our approach: We run our standard biodegradable soft wash chemistry, which is gentle enough for the caulked seams and factory finish while still lifting mildew and algae at the root. It's the same reasoning as vinyl and stucco — the seams are the vulnerability, not the board material itself.
